Instructions to Students with Deficiencies in Psycho 111

I just finished computing the grades of my students in General Psychology. This is one of the mismatches in island state colleges. Almost anybody can teach any general education subject. And here are my observations:
a. Time schedule plays an important role. My class from 12-1 which I met thrice a week had less academic problems. Their reports were very good. Most of them complied the requirements. All topics in the syllabus were covered. Attendance was not a problem. Students were participative and innovative.

b. My TTh class (4-5:30) demonstrated interest in the subject, however, classes were often disrupted because of school activities. Efforts were seen and observed from reporters and students. Only about 80% of the syllabus was covered. It is in this class where I gave a perfect score for the group who reported about Motivation. Their strategy was like a pro, the visuals were effectively used and the activities aroused interest. Congrats!

c. My MW class was the most notorious among them for a number of reasons. First, most of these students were loud. Second, they had the most number of absences made. Third, this class had the most number of students who did not comply with the course requirements. Fourth, their schedule was irregular because of interruptions like faculty meetings, school activities and others. Fifth, their reports were very inferior as compared to the other groups. Sixth, the pacing was very slow covering only about 50% of the syllabus. But the good thing about this group is that they have one classmate who is very good. Mr. Arevalo. Another good point of this group is, they are not intimidated to recite or share their opinions. And although, I seldom see some of them in class, this group knew how to follow my rules.

So at the end of the semester, I made my query: are these the new generation learners? Instead of counting accomplishments at the end of the semester about 50% had deficiencies. To satisfy the deficiencies, you have to do the following:

No MidTerm/Final Exam: Show your permit; Ask approval from IBA Dean to take a special test; Get the test from the IBA Secretary (Mrs. Pastrana)

No Written Report: Since by the time you read this, I am already out of the College, prepare your written report through a powerpoint presentation. Send it to me through my e-mail: egf94@yahoo.com. The group of Ms. Avena was able to make this.

No Survey Data: Photocopy the form. Conduct the survey to 5 farmers. Return the questionnaire to my wife, Mrs. Sherryll Fetalvero.

I am only giving you until October 30 to complete your deficiencies.
